Spring has come and gone, and I can feel the earth sliding into summer. It was a slow, long spring this year here in Albuquerque, and the perennials in my garden appreciated the quiet wake-up from their winter sleep.

[This is an excerpt from my my newsletter included in my monthly stationery kits, which I send to subscribers to support their card and letter writing endeavours! Learn about the monthly kits here.]

Right now, the yarrow and jupiter’s beard and penstemon are leaping from the earth and exploding into color. Once again, I am reminded how lucky I am to be able to tend to this garden and have a space to work with a window that looks over it. It’s messy, chaotic, and never quite put together, but this year I’m trying to embrace the imperfection and come to terms that gardening is never quite finished.

Perhaps similar things can be said for.... friendships? For career? For child rearing?

As the days begin to get warmer, I’m craving all of the shoulder-season activities -- springtime camping in the desert before the sun is too blazing, kayaking down the Rio Grande before the water levels dip too low.

What are you doing in this in-between-season?
